Yule Altar - West (by On Being)
Having a collection of essential oils is super useful! You can use them to anoint candles, add them to your bath, massage your temples and pulse points, and for aromatherapy. You can easily find them at health food and alternative spirituality stores, and don’t be fooled by the tiny bottles! They will last you. I recommend starting your collection with one citrus (lime, orange, lemon) , one floral (rose, jasmine, lavender), one herbal (rosemary, basil), and a woodsy one (cedar, pine). Below are some of my recipes, but feel free to make your own.
Business Success: 4 drops chamomile, 3 drops cedar, 2 drops basil
Love: 2 drops cinnamon, 2 drops clove, 2 drops rosemary
Mental Strength: 2 drops peppermint, 2 drops orange
Peace: 2 drops basil, 4 drops chamomile
Protection: 3 drops black pepper, 4 drops patchouli, 3 drops bergamot
Purification: 2 drops lime, 2 drops orange, 3 drops tea tree
Psychic Enhancement: 3 drops jasmine, 1 drop lemon, 1 drop peppermint
Sexual Energy: 3 drops cinnamon, 2 drops patchouli
Sleep: 2 drops chamomile, 1 drop jasmine, 2 drops lavender
I’m just lusting after that ring so badly right now. Gah.
Want. Oh dear god, want. Except I want the blue chalcedony. Or possibly the moonstone… Augh, I am just going to pine after this for ages, because it’s 85 dollars and that is 85 dollars more than I can afford to spend on a ring. It’s just so gorgeous…

Mistletoe, which was sacred because it mysteriously grew on the most sacred tree, the oak, was ceremoniously cut and a spray given to each family, to be hung in the doorways as good luck.
The Celtic Druids also regarded mistletoe as sacred. Druid priests cut it from the tree on which it grew with a golden sickle and handed it to the people, calling it All-Heal. To hang it over a doorway or in a room was to offer goodwill to visitors.
Kissing under the mistletoe was a pledge of friendship. Mistletoe is still forbidden in most Christian churches because of its Pagan associations, but it has continued to have a special place in home celebrations
